January Editorial by Aurore Mayer: A New Push for Gender Parity
As we begin 2024, I would like to extend my best wishes to each and every one of you for good health and personal fulfillment.
May all of you—women and men committed to gender equality—find fulfillment in all your endeavors and speak out boldly for your convictions on gender diversity. My best wishes also go out to our work teams: may they be places where progress toward inclusion is felt and bears fruit in terms of efficiency, harmony, and creativity.
My best wishes—joined by those of the sponsors of the “Un Une” Parity Network—are also directed toward our company, a pioneer in promoting women’s access to leadership roles and a leader among organizations committed to gender equality: may we be, throughout our regions and internationally, a force capable of fostering a culture of equality in the economy and society.
The year 2024 will mark a new chapter for our network. I have had the honor of leading it for the past few months and, alongside other leaders in the corporate gender diversity network ecosystem, of representing La Poste Group’s participation in this historic movement to engage women and men on the front lines within companies. This leadership role must be the result of a collaborative process with all of you, one that defines our ambition and sets out a roadmap. Therefore, in the coming weeks and months, we will have the opportunity to meet and discuss how to jointly develop our action plan aimed at ensuring that gender parity remains a constant focus for all women and men across the Group.
I already see at least four areas that need to be addressed to take the “Un Une” Parity Network to the next level: Raising our profile, both internally and externally, particularly by strengthening our relationships with partner networks and allies;
Strengthening the Parity Network’s presence within our organization by recruiting new members, identifying new ambassadors, and empowering all the women and men who work through “Un Une” to advance gender parity within the company;
Focusing part of our activities on innovation and providing different solutions to economic and social challenges: all corporate gender diversity networks have this tremendous power to shift mindsets and challenge the status quo. The “Un Une” Parity Network intends to serve as this useful and inspiring laboratory for generating new ideas within our Group.
Getting even closer to the business: gender diversity is a driver of performance, as numerous scientific studies have shown. We have the credibility to serve as a key partner for corporate leadership, which is now more committed than ever to aligning economic and social performance with a view to efficiency and sustainability. Let’s seize this opportunity and demonstrate together that everyone stands to gain by promoting gender parity.
Our program is ambitious. But there are many of us. We are committed, motivated, bold, and united!
Let’s work together to make 2024 a great year for gender equality!
Aurore Mayer, Director of the “Un Une” Parity Network
