International Women’s Day: A Collective Effort Led by the Parity Network “Un Une”
Launched in 1977 at the initiative of the United Nations, International Women’s Day aims to share findings on the state of gender equality, raise awareness about the progress that still needs to be made, and work together to launch relevant initiatives to accelerate the movement.
Companies and their Parity Networks are among the key players in the success of this event. As such, the “Un Une” Parity Network—chaired since early 2024 by Philippe Dorge and led by Aurore Mayer with the support of ambassadors from all entities and regions—has decided to mark the occasion by organizing a major national event.
Introduced by Philippe Wahl, Chairman of La Poste Group, and Valérie Decaux, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of human resources, the day featured several highlights, including a one-on-one discussion between Aurore Mayer and Congresswoman Marie-Pierre Rixain, the sponsor of the bill establishing quotas for women in executive leadership roles.
Participants in this major event also had the opportunity to attend a preview screening of excerpts from Vivara Zambernardi’s documentary “Tu ris trop fort,” which explores the role and voice of women in the world. Following the screening, the director, the president of our network, expert Brigitte Grésy, and social entrepreneur Véronique Saubot (who heads thethe Equaleaders association, which promotes women’s participation in corporate governance bodies) discussed ways to accelerate professional equality and the economic and social performance benefits that organizations stand to gain from increasing gender diversity.
The March 8 event brought together nearly 1,200 people, both in person and remotely, generating significant social media coverage: more than 42,000 impressions on LinkedIn, thanks in particular to posts by the speakers (Marie-Pierre Rixain, Vivara Zambernardi, Brigitte Grésy), partner networks (Alter Egales, AME, 2GAP (Gender and Governance Action Plateform)), and participants. On this occasion, the press also highlighted our efforts to promote gender parity: a great article published on the Marie France media website presents our “Un Une” Parity Network as a model initiative that provides strong impetus to the Group’s leadership and management.
On March 8, 2024, there were also numerous events organized by the ambassadors in the regions and at the subsidiaries.
Without a doubt, this International Women’s Day—organized within our Group by the “Un Une” Parity Network—has reignited a strong sense of momentum… And that’s perfect, because as the saying goes: March 8 comes once a year, but equality is for the whole year! So, of course, stay tuned for our next adventures…
