Check out the September 25, 2024, episode of “Elles écrivent” on Midinale

A Conversation with Cécile Berly, historian and author of the book *Elles écrivent*.

On the role of women in public discourse, literature, and publishing. She invites us, as women, to speak up, to dare to make our voices heard, and to take part in this chapter of our shared history.

Women and writing—a long history… one that has not been without obstacles when it comes to moving beyond reading and private writing: writing and getting published have long been a man’s world! Eighteenth-century notions about women’s place in public discourse—cited by historian Cécile Berly in the preface to her book *Elles écrivent*, dedicated to the great letter-writers of the era—persist… and may well-be a factor in the fact that only 10% of the works nominated for the “Postières et Postal Workers Écrivains” award—now in its tenth edition (https://fondationlaposte.org/devenez-contributeur)—were written by female postal workers!

Through this event, the “Un Une” Parity Network and the La Poste Foundation hope to encourage female postal workers to write, publish their work, and participate in the Prix des Postières et Postiers Écrivains.

Although women make up 52% of the workforce at La Poste, far too many of them are still hesitant to showcase their writing.

It is by making ourselves visible that we will achieve equality at all levels!
